Educator/Teacher (m/f)

40 hrs/wk- 1 year contract – Start date to be determined

JOB DESCRIPTION

To handle the daily care and teaching of the children in the assigned group in agreement with the instructions of the Center Director and Center Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greet/welcome the children and their families

  • Ensure the development of the children and their integration in our center, while being kind and respectful to their rhythm and emotional needs.

  • Handle the well-being of the children, their physical, psychological and affective safety.

  • Respect the teaching system and methodology of Living the Language and adhere to it our teaching methodology, teaching system taught at LTL, agree to learn our methodology and adhere to it.

  • Maintain polite and respectful relationships with center director, management and colleagues.

REQUIRED TRAINING AND SKILLS

  • Illinois Gateways: 15 Hours of training

  • First Aid/CPR

  • Shaken Baby SynDrome

  • SIDS

  • Mandated Reporter


REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

Teacher Assistant

  • Must be at least 19 years old

  • High School Diploma or equivalency certificate

  • Supervised by an early childhood teacher

  • Flexible, understanding and patient

  • Listening skills, available and responsive to children

  • Respect for children and adults


Lead Teacher

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development

    60 Semester hours (or 90 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with 6 semester or 9 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development

  • One year (1560 clock hours) of child development experience in a nursery school, kindergarten, or licensed day care center AND 30 semester hours or (45 quarter hours) of credits from an accredited college or university with 6 semester or 9 quarter hours in courses related directly to childcare and/or child development, from birth to age 6

PROFILE

  • Teaching, human and interpersonal skills

  • Native speaker of any of those languages: French, Spanish or Mandarin

  • Honest and responsible both with the center director, the center manager, the colleagues and the families

  • Skills in planning, directing, and conducting programs that meet the basic need of the child
